Frank, I do not know why you would feel the need to check the veracity of my statement. You are from MO. I bet you experience the very same "post-rain, squashed, baked worms" phenomenon there as they do in NE.
Allsteaks, if you had been here this AM, you darn well would have fixed the a/c fast. You do not want to be around this group of women, nekkid or fully clothed, when we are all sweaty and cranky.
Joannie, he wasn't wearing the cute blue hat and suit, just grungy pants and an old t-shirt. As long as he got the job done, I didn't care where he came from.
Ray, I doubt people will care about the before-and-after pics, they just aren't that exciting. For the rest of the group, here's what ray's talking about;
Before: a pic of HRQ with her shoes off, forearms sticking to her desk top, and a scowl on her face.
After: a pic of HRQ with her shoes still off (it's kinda nice to be free!) and a smile on her face.
By the way, we narrowly escaped a riot this morning when the UPS guy walked in and said "sheesh, it's hot in here. You should turn down the air."
They're calling it a "rain bomb" -- something that only happens every few hundred years. I'm sure that's a big consolation to the folks whose cars and trailers are washing down the Colorado river.
Rain bomb gives a good visual. Like a huge water balloon hitting the ground.
Just so y'all know, it is so frickin' cold in this office that my assistant and the receptionist are wearing sweatshirts and I am wearing a blazer. We are happy now.
May is the wettest month here so we weren't needing rain and certainly not this much. But, sadly, we only have two levels of rainfall in central Texas -- drought and flashflood. I'm sure jitrbug can back me up on that
Hey Whirly... I have a friend that lives out your way. He lives on a nice big hill. If you get too soggy, I'm sure my friend would welcome you to hang out with him for a few days until things dry off. And he's a bass trombone player just like me so a really, really nice guy.
Oklahoma's in the same shape as Texas. In all of 2006 we had 26.98 inches of rain. Through last Saturday, we had over 30 inches of rain and it has rained every day since then. I seem to recall an old gospel song entitled "Who Is It Building That Boat?". It started out, "Who is it building that boat, Oh, Lord, I hope it will float".

I remember the Memorial Weekend flood some years ago, where even downtown Austin flooded. I was supposed to be a brides maid in a wedding at the Driskill and we had to cancel. It was a sign for that marriage!
By the way, I was down there this past weekend but flew in/out of Killen and had MAJOR trouble getting through DFW due to weather. My 1:30PM expected arrival there Friday turned into 1AM Saturday and my 9:30PM expected arrival back here turned into 3AM Tuesday. What should have been about an 8 hour round trip turned into 24.5 hours! I could have driven there and back in that time.
Hooray! Here in South Central Oklahoma the sun is actually shining --- oops, there it went behind a dark black cloud again. We got another 2 inches last night. So far today, just a few drops.
Warm and sunny in mid-MO. One of our TPA's located in Bartlesville, OK sent out an e-mail yesterday that they were runnin' on a skeleton crew due to the flood waters in the area.

Our town didn't have the severe flooding that the communities around us did but we were isolated for a couple of days with all 4 highways closed because of flood waters. We can go south but Oklahoma is flooding now! But we have food, water and beer, and the liquor stores are doing banner business, so all is swell. Our internet service provider went out for a couple of days too. Happy 4th of July everyone; enjoy our hard earned freedom!!!

I want to point out my new personal HERO Kent Couch from the great state of Oregon who flew almost 200 miles in a lawn chair with 105 helium balloons, a bb gun, and snacks.
Couch was repeating the feat first accomplished by my previous personal hero Larry Walters who rode his lawn chair up to 3 miles into the atmosphere and was spotted by a passing airline pilot.
When asked why he did it, Walters replied "A man cant just sit around."
How quickly I forgot about 666. It was not a memorable post. 777 has redeemed me. Will start planning now for 888 so I'm better prepared. It'll be inspiring, thoughtful, colorfully worded, everything you or any of us have ever hoped for in a post.
Thank you for including the link to the article. I didn't understand why he'd need a bb gun. Now it makes complete sense.
Hey Q, et al, thanks for asking about moi; we were closed last week so of course we've been several weeks behind now. Hopeful to restart stirring the pot (luck) going forward. Congrats on 777; no one can take that away from you, as opposed to all those folks who chose to wed on that magical (?) date. Hope someone tracks the success/divorce rate!

Besides, if he's got you convinced that they have hills in Wichita Falls, he'd probably also like to show you some ocean-front property in Arizona.
Okay, when I start quoting George Strait, I know it's time to get back to work.
More rain talk or whatever it is you are yapping about.
