SHOES !!

Having worked in a predominantly male environment for many years, it's become clear that the male species will never grip the importance and the NEED for multiple pairs of shoes. Thank goodness the HR Director (Moi) is female and can relate and intervene to stop this (legal) discrimination against females. I notice RAD has many shoes. Help me out here. I need the printer friendly version of this thread to conduct sensitivity training.

Shoes are little leather gifts from god. I'm not sure anything brings as much joy to my heart as a great pair of heels. In fact, boots are the only thing that get me through the long New England winters. I packed my boots up last weekend, wrapped them in tissue with lots of TLC where they will stay until I drop them off at the cobbler to be reheeled and polished next fall.

We have separate closets at home. Mine is the smaller one. Then she has another closet with NOTHING BUT DAMNED SHOES IN IT! This is insane. It's wrong and there ought to be a rule! How come a man can make it with three or four pair of shoes at the most plus one old pair of Reeboks?

For starters, a woman must have 5 black pair - a low-heal-open-toe, a platform with straps, a basic pump, a dress stilleto, a casual for jeans. Now with that as a basic and multiplied times the number and shades, let' see . . . I need a calculator.

Don is almost right. It does help to have more than one pair of sneakers. In fact, they can be centerpiece of our footwear collection, small as it may be.

I will never understand this particular fetish. I have two pair of black dress shoes, two pair of brown shoes (one casual, one dress) and running shoes - oh, and my old combat boots. What more do you need, for cryin' out loud? You can only wear one pair at a time!

Beagle, I too have 2 pair of black and 2 pair of brown (one dress, one casual). No combat boots, but 3 pair of sneakers (running shoes).

At home, I have LOTS of shoes for wearing at the office or for going out to parties or dances , I wear the nice shoes. My favorites at home are leather sandals.

I probably have close to 50 which includes sandals, boots, sneakers and the 5 pairs I have never even worn.

We have the opposite problem in my house....my hubby is the shoe fanatic....I am the one with black heels, black pumps, pair of sandels, boots, and tennis shoes. THAT's it.

I can't even tell the difference between some of his shoes....but it matters a great deal that he has this choice in the morning...maybe that's why we're always late????

I have well over 500 pairs of shoes and I wear every pair at some time during the course of a year. My very favorite saying comes from Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. He says, "There's nothing wrong with having bags under your eyes as long as you have shoes to match." And I have plenty of shoes to match!

Why? I buy a new pair when the old one wears out. From the looks of it I have saved a lot of money over the years. Maybe I will go out and spend it, but not on shoes.

. . . I've started buying a new pair of shoes for ever outfit. I now even have TWO pair of tennis shoes.

Last week I had ten minutes before an appointment and I didn't think my shoes went well enough with my outfit, I stopped at the shoe store, spent five minutes trying on shoes and bought a pair, and I walked out wearing them. What a dork.

They are very spiky heals, very pointy toe, they hurt like hell but they look good. I love them! I've had so many compliments on them. Best shopping trip I've ever made.

I think I've increased from 4 pair to 14 pair in the last few months. Is there any hope for me?

Don't even get me started on my PURSES !!

The prosecution rests, Your Honor. Women with more than 5 pairs of shoes (arbitrary figure) have too much time on their hands, too much money in their purses, a rather perplexing sense of style over function, and in most states would probably qualify for involuntary commitment. x;-)

Wow, you're my hero! xO:) I only have about 6 pair of black pumps and 3 other pairs of shoes. Only because I don't have the room in my closet! Don't you men know that it is NOT healthy to wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. Your feet sweat and it takes that long for a shoe to air out. You must rotate your shoes a minimum of every two days. Parabeagle I'm sure learned that in the military.

I can't take this anymore! I have to confess. Besides the normal two pair of dress loafers and a pair of slippers, I have 9 pair of Nikes, each with its own purpose:
1. Dress (yes, I wear my dress Nikes to weddings)
2. Work (I walk around alot)
3. Weekend out and about. (hand-me-down from #2)
4. Lawn mowing (hand-me-down from #3)
5. Other outside work.
6. Workout room.
7. Running.
8. Sandles (gotta have a pair of lord boards)
9. Golf

My wife swears there are more swooshes in the house than there is silverware.

There. I feel better now.

I like shoes, but I would rather spend the money on purses or clothes that make me look thinner. Either that or pie, cake, or doughnuts.

Exactly! I bought a pair of shoes last weekend that made my heart stop. I mean, I was clinically dead- white light, tunnel, you name it. They are gorgeous! Did I need them? Oh yes. Everyone at work loved them.
