I love to laugh. Nobody knows it but I am the fouth Stooge. And I also like to be companionable. I might get me a quart of cooking oil and a date and get nekkid and watch this phenomenon. The Lone Ranger would be mighty disappointed in me. x:-)
I dont really think of this as "reality." It's a game show, a contest. From that point of view it is fun to watch and root for players just like any other game.
Exactly, LeslieC. All of these reality shows are far from reality. It's just what they are called by the networks. A large part of them are complete garbage and a waste of time. I like to watch some of the better ones like Survivor because of the dynamics at play. I can spare a portion of my life to be entertained a couple nights a week to unwind with the sillyness of it all.
Don, try watching it a couple of times with the notion that it is not reality. It's just a fun show with real people trying to win it all. Some are worth rooting for, and some you'll love to hate.
LAST EDITED ON 01-19-04 AT 09:52AM (CST)[br][br]There was a review of a new reality series on Fox. In it a woman will get a million dollars if she marries some guy. What she doesn't know is that this guy and his "family" are all actors who were told to be as obnoxious as possible to the woman and her family. Is this another example of Fox (which also owns the conservative Fox News) pushing family values?
The current issue of TV guide has an excellent article about the upcoming Survivor all-stars season that summarizes each player, strengths, weaknesses, and what they were known for.
Apparently you can also go to the cbs.com website and see a recap of every Survivor season up to this point.
We have an invitation to a Super Bowl party and I am making my husband take his own car. You know, get the kids home and in bed at a decent hour. Right, he knows that my ulterior motive is to be sitting down in front of the TV when that ball games ends.
I missed all but the Pearl Islands series so all of the people are new to me. I can't wait to see what comes up.
I understand completely Moneyman; we are also were invited to a Superbowl party, and I said no way...I'd never get home in time to see the first moments of Survivor, and I dont want to miss a nano-second! And taping it watch the next day is not an option, need to be able to discuss it at work (and here!) the next morning...
I plan to BE at the Super Bowl. That's the ultimate reality ripoff. It's only another Sunday ball game, but all the added hype, fluff and commercialism make it seem a bit different, just for awhile. Then it's back to mowing the lawn and balancing the bills.
HEY GANG: Looks like this thread has been re-started on a new one dedicated to Survivor All star. Let's all move over there so we dont have 2 going at once (i am just not that organized to keep track of 2 conversations at once...) see you all at the Survivor All Star discussion....
