I finally got my t-shirt and managed a photo. The $5000 Margaret sent was instrumental. I hesitate to post this since only two have been posted, I think, and both of them (Paul and Christy) have disappeared. Anyway, here's my first bottle tree, the bike and the infamous T-Shirt. The Carona is under the helmet. For those of you who want a dart-board, I don't know how to blow it up.

Looks like you have a beard or goatee. I've always said, "Never trust a guy with a beard." Oops, I just shaved mine off last February after 25 years.

The photo actually makes me look bald which I'm not. The Forum editor should enlarge it a bit to prove that. When a man turns 50, he has to do a couple of really stupid things. In my case it was a bike and a goatee.

The bottles are supposed to trap spirts. .evil and ancestoral and keep them from coming into your home and causing harm. It is largely a Southern thing. Blue was one of the favorite colors..apparently best at keeping away evil. Though I understand that bottle trees have become scarce, in the rural south you still lots of blue doors. I am saving bottles now for mine.

If you seriously want more scoop on this bottle tree, go to [url]www.usadeepsouth.com[/url] and search the articles on the left column for my bottle tree article. This particular tree was wrestled out of the local reservoir and weighed about 240 pounds and I brought it home and dressed it up. On the other side of the yard I have a solid black, square iron tree with 20 cobalt blue quart bottles on it with a rooster weathervane on top who has cubic circonia eyes. The flamingos stay pissed at the rooster constantly. My house is full of evil spirits so Sonny's theory must not work. Rockie: the fig leaves are in the background...that is a 19 foot tall fig bush/tree! Ritaanz: Send gas money. Forrister: I'm still thinking. Ray: I don't do much leather. Leslie: The bike has a fifth-wheel trailer hitch. x:-)

Let's see. I figure it's about 1500 miles. The Beast gets @30 miles per gallon? We'll need 50 gallons at $1.90 per gallon, that's comes to $95.00. Sounds like a bargain to me. Look for my debit card to arrive shortly. x:-)

I agree that Don looks wrong. (Sorry, Don.) His appearance is way too kindly and normal to suit either his writing style or its content. I pictured him older (sorry, again), slightly overweight and graying. I also pictured him in a three piece suit, with a watch chain. My sartorial expectations were probably colored by the way the managers dressed when I worked for the government lo these many years ago, as for the rest, he just doesn't look like a curmudgeon.
