The Friday after Thanksgiving

Just checking, how many of you give the Friday after Thanksgiving off as one of your company's paid holidays, how many of you utilize a floating holiday option for this/
I am curious.

My $0.02 worth, and looking for yours!

We give the Friday off as a holiday. About 3 years ago we went to a 10 hour, 4 days work week. Now that day has become a floater which we use during the Christmas - New Year week.

The question now is what to do this year? With Christmas and New Year on a Saturday, there are several ways we can divide up the holidays.

It is regular scheduled workday for us. But, many people choose to take it off using a vacation day, personal day (non-exempt only) or their floating holiday. I don't think I've ever worked that Friday in the previous 25 years.

BALLOONMAN: We have Thanksgiving as a Holiday with the Friday available for all to take a day of vacation. Christmas and New Years days will be celebrated as a holiday on Friday. I will be out harvesting my share of the Deer population in our state on all three of these days off!

We do both. Because of the size of my company and the zillion contracts, we have some states and bargaining units that have it off as one of the paid holidays. When the hourly employees get it off paid, so does management. Other states have to use a personal or vacation day.

The day after Thanksgiving is one of our regular (11) holidays. This is under a union contract and extended to our non-union facility. We have no floating holidays.

We're given the Friday after Thanksgiving as a paid holiday. If Christmas and New Years fall on a weekend, we're given that Monday off. If they fall on Thursdays, we're given that Friday off.

This year we're getting Christmas Eve (Friday) and December 27th (Monday) off.

We have lots of holidays and holydays where I work.

It is a scheduled holiday for us as well.

It's a paid holiday for us. That's right in deer hunting season, so we'd be swamped in vacation requests and fake illnesses if we tried to be open that day.

Paid holiday for us.

We follow the schedule of if a holiday falls on a Saturday, we "celebrate" it on the preceeding Friday, if it falls on a Sunday, we celebrate it on the following Monday.

It gives certain employees more time to ride their bikes on those long weekends. :>)

This is an unpaid-scheduled-day-off for us. Our ee's are welcome to use vacation to receive pay for the day.

That day is not a scheduled holiday for us. If an ee wants to take the day off, they must use accumulated PTO for it or take it off without pay.

We don't give it as a paid holiday, but our folks have the option of taking it as either a vacation day or a personal/sick day. Most of our organization in on a 4/10 schedule so it's only the office/sales folks that are affected.

You allow employees to use a sick day? By our policy, and employee who calls out sick the first scheduled day after a holiday or the last scheduled day before a holiday will result in the loss of the paid holiday. Our ee's can use a vacation day or a personal day.
