He is back in our office speaking to one of our VP's and he has smoothed things over. I guess he felt that he would loose some ground some with his employees. We are going to send him an apology and give him a gift certificate to a fancy restuar…

This person would be taking over for our IT Manager that just left and will have two technicians under him. It's not like we are setting up new systems, programs, etc. My boss is giving him a "salary" and he wants this person to give us an invoi…

If Don leaves the forum - I am too. He (as well as many others) has great ideas, suggestions, advice, etc. I must leave now and purchase some boots because it's getting pretty deep in here. Oops, did I offend anyone?

Thank you for the quick response!!! Our company is a call center enviornment so we really don't do a lot of lifting, etc. Based on the responses I received I will conduct another training regarding heavy lifting and will not purchase any back bra…

Don, Unfortunetly we have already tried that and it lasts for 1 week - no one want's to be the smoke police. Our company does not have many outside customers (maybe 1 every two weeks) so that approach for our company would not work. I am not …

Florida does not have any laws (that I am aware of) that stipulate the how far you should be from a building entrance to smoke. Also, the owner of our company is a smoker and she smokes out front of the building and honestly doesn't give a rat's …

We actually had the discussion regarding the disruption it is causing a couple of weeks ago and she did go to the doctor. I just found out she went to another doctor yesterday and she is scheduled for some type of surgery in a couple of weeks. H…

The program that we use for our client database - the "updated" version we purchased requires that the monitors be set to that setting for the program to work. (makes absolutly no sense to me) So now we have some employees stating it's blurry beca…

**update** Her car was released from impound - she left for lunch called her supervisor and stated that she is unable to return to work today because she needs to take care of her issue. When she comes in tomorrow she will be terminated. As I s…

**update** I spoke to the ee yesterday - the story is... She was at home and at 3am she received a phone call from a friend stating that she was in trouble - while she was on the phone my ee heard gun shots. She called 911. One person was shot in …

I do agree (to an extent) with both sides of this debate - but I do feel personal feelings squeezed themselves into it. Bottom line... We ALL have done things that we PRAYED at night our parents would not find out about. Whether they were right …

Live and learn. These kids are here as part of a program called Life Smarts. (we just won the state championship 2 weeks ago and we are going to San Francisco in April for nationals) That aside - it was "our bad" that we did not inform them of in…

We have security cameras throughout our building - we viewed the tapes and know who it was. I will pass along your advice in notifying the school - I would hate for it to come back to us that we new about it and said nothing. Thank you!!!

Thanks you for all of your responses - I am looking into our state reg's to ensure that we are following everything properly. Shelley

I think I have won (again)! There is just one person that is a tough nut to crack. (pun intended) Thanks for the responses - I needed to vent and read that I am not off my rocker!

Pork, No, I do not want to be the attendance police... These managers need to take responsibility for their teams and not be afraid to say no. One good thing is that they are all receptive to training - I have asked for their option on what roadbl…

Don, When her manager spoke to her Wednesday stating that we needed her to come in Thursday she said she would. Thursday morning we got a call from her that she had to take her son to the doctor for a physical. (hmmm....wouldn't she have known th…

I have a training class set for next week with the managers and one of the topics is on when to notify HR. This is the first time I have had this type of situation so I don't have anything to fall back on. I'm sure she can "fax" something but her …

I agree with dchr9203 - I would not send it. How would they even know she applied with your company? Seems strange to me...

Is his attorney trying to support a crack habit? He is off his rocker! I agree with Balloonman1 - tell him... (oh, wait...I'm a lady and can't say such words) ;;)

If she is a good worker - and her supvisor's think she is worth it - wouldn't it be "cheaper" to give her a raise than to pay for advertising, take the time to interview, send out no-thank you letters, drug tests, background checks, offer letters, t…

They work - you pay. Is this a problem for your company with people quiting so soon after being hired? Could it be the client(s) they are working for? What are the reasons for them leaving so quickly?

I have a couple of questions... You have an open position and advertise for it listing the minimum qualifications. Then if you don't receive an acceptable candidate pool you re-advertise and lower your mimimum qualifications. Hmmm... 1. Are the…

If we had an employee that resigned - per our policy we require (or is that desire...) two weeks notice. If we wanted to part company as of that day we would still pay them for the two weeks and they would be paid on the regular pay periods.
