not unless it is mandatory to attend (or they end up doing work while there).

I'm trying to make it as all inclusive as possible although we do already have a nepotism policy.

Seems to me that you don't know if the person is out for military reasons or not because they have not contacted you. "Word on the floor" doesn't seem like it would be enough to go by. Have you tried reaching out to the employee? Did the employee…

We are not subject to FMLA. So we have no forms for her to fill out. I will ask for a return to work notice when I finally get details on the recovery.

I don't send letters to every applicant. I will send an initial response to the resume as receipt of the resume basically saying it will be reviewed and we will be in contact if they meet our needs. If I conduct a phone screen or invite someone in…

I've put pre approved vacation into offer letters and indicated that if no leave was available it would be unpaid. I don't see a problem with it being the offer letter. Our letters are essentially telling them what we have agreed upon. I am hirin…

I'd consider it. If it is going to cause a problem with staffing, that could be an issue but otherwise I'd say if they have the time let them go.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity, why such a strict dress code? What type of business is this?

Now I think I may have asked an illegal question. If an applicant is applying for a job and lives a significant distance away, can I let them know where we are located and ask if the commute would be a problem? What protected class am I discrimin…

Oh good, now I don't feel so bad. It is just frustrating that they won't let us voluntarily elect. Not even to reimburse.

I haven't heard any. What stations are they normally on?

I'm confused on what sort of ADA issues would arise from supporting different events. My old company would sponsor tons of walks and drives.

we're a small non profit. provide about 95% for employee and about 50% for dependent coverage

The problem is I have employees in many different states. The plan is written out of VA but we were incorporated in Wisconsin and Florida.

We just don't let folks take more then what they accrued. If they don't have the time to take and an emergency comes up, then they take leave without pay. (For non exempt employees not exempt)

What did she tell you was the reason she cced her personal email?
-
Did you ask why? I needed to send info to my personal address before I was able to get my laptop functioning outside the office. Also, my computer would not open certain files.

Unfortunately I did not have a choice in the matter. I was overruled. Luckily the employee being let go took it ok. I think there is a bit of a struggle for power here and all I want to do is make sure we don't get sued. Oh well, I guess all I c…

It's federal. Looks like it is going to a mute issue for a while. I got the necessary forms back from the employee and the remaining paycheck amoung (after taking out for the CS) is actually all exempt from the levy. Yeah, it definitely is compl…

I'm in VA but the employe resides and works out of MA. The CS order are from Ohio, WV and NH.

You can search BLR for non profit. The Bureau of Labor Statistics breaks salaries down by industry so you can seach there by what the non profit does (i.e.grantmaking, religious org) and The Economic Research Institute has nonprofit info as well.

I'd like to here about anyone's experience with E-Verify too. My company may be a sub on a government contract soon and we'll have to start using it.
-
No, never had any push back. Most of the agencies I worked with included the information anyway.

I do not accept resumes with out names on it. It is to hard to track if it had already been submitted to us or not. Often times I would get the same resume from two or three different agencies within days of each other. Having the name of the app…
