I too, have this problem frequently. I agree with the progressive discipline policy, if only I could get my Supervisors to follow through with the discipline! With the supervisors that do cooperate, I have very few problems within that department.

Thanks, for your input. You spoke of Federal Taxes, but what about Social Security and Medicare? Does anyone know if the employer has to pay on the benefit received by the employee? (on the company paid LTD).

In the state of Tennesse, you must offer an alternative to the HMO. I don't know if this is state specific. We changed last year to a HMO/POS from a HMO/PPO plan.

Fortunatley, the employee was not covered under our group health plan, he is covered on his spouse's plan. The illness is not work-related nor was it an injury. Thanks for your input.

Don, Thanks for your input. I do not believe we have an ADA concern on this one due to the employee's condition is stroke related, and he is continuing to have bleeding into his brain cavity. His doctor has stated that he should not work at all.
