Tidbits of really useful stuff: How many of you knew that both of our MS senators were once cheerleaders at Ole Miss (Univ. Of Mississippi)? Trent 'Foot in the Mouth' Lott and Thad Cochran both were. Ain't that amazin'? What was that New York Mafia guy's name, Cuomo? Koch? Kennedy is just another New Yorker who drank too much and wound up in Massachusetts one night and didn't remember the way back.
Koch, I believe, is Jewish, so he wouldn't be a mafioso. Cuomo? Could be. Speaking of the Mafia, Don, one of the largest, if not the largest, Mafia bust was right here in my neighborhood in 1957. There was a meeting of the top brass in little-known Appalachin, NY and many were rounded up as they headed for the woods when the police came screaming up sirens blaring and lights flashing.
How did we go from women's topics to the mafia in this thread?
Does anybody else see ritaanz coming to the defense of the guys quite often? ritaanz, what makes you think the guys need defending? They get themselves in trouble quite nicely, don't feel the need to dig them out.
Just when you think it's safe, they're going to throw another jab at us, even in the Woman's Topic threads. What's up with that?
The chocolates you sent her must be better than the ones you sent me . . . oh, wait a minute . . . you buffaloed me. I haven't seen the chocolates arrive yet. Did Leslie get her pizza?
Actually I've been trying to shed a few pounds for a family photo on Aug 16th. If I don't make it by then I'm gonna take a few weeks off then get back on the wagon. And Ray, you shouldn't have said anything. I thought it was you who mailed me that Pizza Hut coupon!
No problem ritaanz, none at all. Go ahead. I take it back. If I could delete it I would. Eeek! Sorry! Whew! I didn't know it was a sensitive spot. ray a, bail me out and you don't need to send me any candy. :-S
Still waiting . . . wait a minute, how did you know where to mail it? Nice try buddy! That's okay, I'm on a DQ Blizzard kick and that would be tough to mail.
Just how big is New Holstein, WI? And how many Jindra's are there in town? So, you don't think I'm poking fun at you, the town I work in has 8000 people and it is the county seat. Yee Haw, we're in the city, Maude. But, I don't live in this county.
There are about 1,000 people in New Holstein, but only one Jindra and he's not me. I live in another little town about 20 minutes away. Valders, WI. We haven't quite hit 1,000 people in Valders, but we've got our fingers crossed!
She brings up an interesting point, Ritaanz. Why have you been so defensive of us guys (we guys?) lately? Myself excluded, of course. Are you being bought and paid for by the Forum Mafia (Don D, Ray, et al). x;-)
My dear Beaglepuss: I see you have a problem with that too. Well, it's on a need to know basis, AND..........you don't need to know. Is there anything else, Puss? x:-)
LAST EDITED ON 08-06-03 AT 08:18AM (CST)[p]I have noticed that Ritaanz often will jump in and support (not defend) legitimate concepts that are posted and regularly will chide others who are drifting off in left-field with their eyes looking in different directions. I don't see that as a male defense thing. I see it simply as agreeing with posts. She also will disagree and jump your case whether you be man, woman, or other. And I have a list of the times she's jumped me! By the way, getting back to the subject of this post, this man/woman thing is ridiculous. We don't even know the sex of half the posters, even Ritaanz unless you've seen a post where she identified herself/himself. I've watched some of you step in it calling Sonny, Rockie and Leslie men. And I've watched our famous Paul fall into the crack when he called Gillian a woman. We could construct a list of 100 screen names of whom we do not know the sex, therefore I don't see how it can be dissected into a man/woman situation. Hell, I love women; They have half the money in the world and all the...............wait, I can't go there. So, I have the feeling that about half of you, when you attend a seminar, when you first walk into the room, rather than searching for the quality of the instructor or noticing the professionalism of the handouts, you count the people in the room who are the same sex or race as yourself and that's your first judgement of the venue and its value.
Don, you sound so serious... I had to double check which conference I was in.
It is interesting how these threads on chauvinism and women's topics have kind of fizzled and drifted quickly from their original intent. So, the dichotomy between the sexes, at least here in HR, is not that great. And interestingly, when I made a remark that could have been perceived as sexist, calling my wife the little woman, I took as much heat from a male colleague as I did from the women. And it was a woman who came to my defense. It has been an interesting couple of weeks.
I've no objections and have taken no offense that Forum posters have often thought of me as a man. Hell, I love men.
As far as women, my late father in law (God Rest His Soul!) stated to me once: "Hell, I don't know what all this fuss is about women wanting equal rights, I always thought they had superior rights!" I never saw my mother in law suffer - he made the money and she spent it. (Pretty good tradeoff!).
Being raised (and living to tell about it) in the company of three brothers and being the only female child in the neighborhood, I've always felt very comfortable around the "male of the species" and have no problems getting along with them. If they offend me, I just straight out tell them and I've not had one yet that wouldn't back off if taken to task. I think 90% of it is the way that you conduct yourself and your approach to issues.
So, Beaglepuss, you've throw me the gauntlet. But, I am not goning to accept the challenge. Ritz was my moniker in college and adding the y just makes it 2 syllables instead of 1. Not to worry, Puss, I love it when we fight and make-up. x:*
Ritz is my very favorite cracker, especially with peanut butter. So, we go from misperceived offenses to 'little woman' to serious discussion to Beagle buffoonery to peanut butter. Full circle. I'm going to the cabinet to see if there's one Ritz there.

"Ritzy" - I like that one, too.
