What lines from songs have you heard, or thought yourself, was something other than what it really was??
My husband told me a funny one recently that his friend thought for a long time...
I'm the King I wish for bacon ... (I'm the King of wishful thinking)
and not that the words changed in sound, but my innocent mother thought:
Knights in white satin ... (nights in white satin)
She always pictured a Knight in full armor, wearing white satin on a horse!
What have you thought or heard yourself???

I confess, I must have been listening to the same cheap radio your mother was, as I too heard this in the lyric! And with a romantic imagination, I too saw that same flowing Knight in armor and satin.
When we first heard the song "Postman" in the mid-60s, which went "As I write this letter, send my love to you...," my sister was adament that the singer sang, "As I ride the saddle...." All of which says a lot about the quality of sound systems in those days, I think.
Sorry. I won't butt in anymore. x:-)
Bringing in the Sheeps. Bringing in the Sheeps. We shall come rejoicing bringing in the Sheeps.
and then there was: Andy walks with me, Andy he talks with me. Andy he tells me I am His own. ...then the little boy turns to Dad and asks, "Who's Andy?"
I thought the first one might be an Elvis Presley song I missed!
Could have been, couldn't it?? I don't remember the name of the artist, but I know the line of the song.
One other I remembered from my youth...The Go Go's "our lips are sealed".
I always thought it was some kind of exclaimation..."Abbacaseal" or something to that effect!
There, I said it...whew, that felt better. I guess we should attribute it to bad radios!
You're right! Besides attributing it to bad radios, how 'bout poor memories--for some of us! x:-8
The Capitol Steps, the Washington DC group that lampoons politicians in song, had "Secret Asian Man" in their repertoire a few years ago - during the time Bill Clinton's fundraising among the Chinese was in the news. John Huang was the Secret Asian Man.
"If your skill at raising funds dismays ya,
There's a fella you can call from Asia..."

Life would be ecstacy
You and me, endlessly
which I heard as:
Life would be ecstacy
You and me.. and LESLIE!
I'm thinking.. who is Leslie and why is she grooving with us?
Paul
You weren't alone, obviously!
"We'll keep on spendin' sunny days this way.
We're gonna talk and laugh our time away.
I feel it comin' closer day by day.
Life would be ecstasy, you and me endlessly
Groovin' on a sunday afternoon.
Really couldn't get away too soon."
Louie Louie, me gotta go.
Louie Louie, me gotta go.
A fine little girl, she wait for me.
Me catch the ship across the sea.
I sailed the ship all alone.
I never think I'll make it home.
Louie Louie, me gotta go.
Three nights and days we sailed the sea.
Me think of girl constantly.
On the ship, I dream she there.
I smell the rose in her hair.
Louie Louie, me gotta go.
Me see Jamaican moon above.
It won't be long me see me love.
Me take her in my arms and then I tell her I never leave again.
Louie Louie, me gotta go."
