What percentage do you cover?

I am taking a poll to find out what other companies are paying towards the total premium of health insurance for their employees. We are a non-profit organization and currently cover 80% of the employees premium and 0% for dependents.

We have two plans. The plan with the high deductible has no employee contribution. We the employer, pay the full cost. Our other plan is a richer plan and for that we charge $125.00/month for family and $50.00/month for single. I'm sure that will be changing come renewal in April of 2005 when our premiums will once again skyrocket.

We are also a non-profit organization and until this year covered 100% of premiums for ee and dep. We have grown so much that we now charge 2% of dependent coverage only. Very minimal, but it did not go over well.

We pay 100% of the employee premiums for our exempt employees and 80% of our non-exempt employees premium.

We do not pay any portion of dependent coverage for any employees.

We're a local government. We pay 85% for the employee and dependents.

Also local government. We pay 100% for ee and 35, 45 or 55 % of dependent coverage depending on pay grade.

We are a local government also, and the City pays 80% of the premium for both individual and family plans. Health Insurance is a budget buster, and I am spending a great deal of time trying to find ways to save $ for the City, without throwing a large increase on the employee premiums.

mrbill, do you pre-tax the employee's portion under section 125? You could change the employer/employee to 75/25. It would save both the er and the ee $$. The employee's take home would be the same and their taxable income would be less.

We are a public school and cover 87.5% for certified and unaffiliated employees and 85% for non-certified employees.

I JUST logged on to see if there was any information on this on the forum, so thanks for asking the question, Shelley.

Right now we have a formula where we pay 100% individual for full time, 80% for part time individual, and then pay 60% of difference for full time family and 50% of difference for part time family.

Our staff have been howling because as rates leap 20% per year the families are getting socked. I don't blame them, but individuals will not be happy to learn that the alternative is to have them assume some of the costs. That seems pretty typical, however.

I am interested in hearing if folks have different percentages for full time vs. part time. From the responses above, I'm concluding no.

We pay 100% for the EE's on the HMO plan. There is an upgrade available to a PPO - the EEs pay for the difference.

We pay nothing towards dependent coverage.

We do not cover anyone working less than 30 hours.

We have a high deductible health plan with an HSA. We pay 100% of the single premium for all employees, 2-person and family coverages pay the additional cost of the premium. We also contribute the same amount to each employee's HSA ($1500), regardless of whether they have single or 2-person/family coverage. Single deductible is $2250 and 2-person/family is $4500. I've done a survey and most employees are satisfied. This is the first year of the plan. It has certainly kept our costs in line.

We pay 50% of the premium for both family and individual coverage. If an employee works enough hours to be eligible for insurance (30 hours a week), then they receive the 50% benefit.
