DO NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEES HAVE TO GET TIME AND HALF FOR HOLIDAYS OR IS IT UP TO EMPLOYER? THESE ARE EMPLOYEES WITHOUT CONTRACTS.

  • If you are in the state of Massachusetts AND you are in the retail industry, you must be paid time and a half if you work any of the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day.

To the best of my ability to discover, if you are in any other state, if you are in MA in any other industry, or if you are in MA, in retail, but you work any other holiday, it is completely up to the employer whether you get paid time and a half or not.

If you don't work the holiday, whether you get paid AT ALL is up to company policy.
