Worksharing vs. Furlough

Hi,

 Can anyone explain the difference?  If someone is on furlough, are they eligible to collect unemployment benefits?

    Depends on how you define "furlough".  Might depend on the length of the furlough as many states have waiting periods before UI benefits start.  And unemployment benefits are state specific so you might get answers from yes they would be eligible to depending on the circumstances to not in my state.

    I suggest looking at your state's website, most have good information for unemployment claims. Or call the State Unemployment group and ask.

    eta: with worksharing, it might also depend on how many (or what percentage) hours and how much pay was cut.
