Men can make a mess, too.  We had a co-ed restroom at my old company and a man (the only one in the dept) kept missing the bowl and hitting the wall.

We just put up a sign saying there have been complaints about condition of restroom and that everyone is responsible for cleaning up any mess he or she causes. This makes the person aware that it is being noticed and discussed.

Guess you don't have a cleaning service.  If not, you'd better train your workers about bloodborne pathogens and using gloves when cleaning up. This is actually a health issue.
