  • A few ideas are:

    Encourage employees to carpool

Provide incentive for purchasing hybrid cars

Pass out energy efficient lightbulbs at work for people to take home

Have a day where employees work in the community for the needy

Collect supplies to mail to the troops

    Matching donations to charities

  • Paid time off for volunteering at a food bank, school, other charitable event.

Sponsor a charitable organization by having a day(s) where the company sends volunteers or provides assistance.

Book donations from employees to local library's or schools.

Subsidize employee's cost for riding public transportation.

Depending on your location and the chance of disaster, train some of your employees as CERT members.

  • Recycle, Recycle, Recycle...we have recycling bins for aluminum, plastic and glass, newspaper, plain paper, glossy paper, batteries, old computers....

Our facilities department takes care of contacting the county for pickup and/or drop off locations.  Employees are allowed to bring in items from home to recycle as well.

  • All of the above and then some.  We also have volunteer days for Habitat for Humanity and do things through employee contributions (with small company matche) to help the needy.  Start an employee committee which can make suggestions.
  • Adopt a school in a disadvantaged area.  Donate supplies. Pay for "extras" like assembly programs. Let employees take time off to tutor, mentor, and run activity programs. To avoid liability issues, do all activities on school property.
