Pay Advance Recoup

In Louisiana, is it legal to recoup a 3 day pay advance that was given on an employee's first check either while they are still employed by the company OR by deducting the amount from their final pay check without any form of written consent from the employee before doing so?

I think you'd be okay if you have documentation indicating that it was an advance on pay but, to be on the safe side, let's see if anyone else on the Forum has advice.
