Credit Checks

We do not require credit checks for employment however are considering doing a credit check before individuals (typically management) are issued company credit cards. I've searched on this subject but only have seen articles written on credit checks for employment purposes.

I'm inclined to think that we are able to request a credit report as long as we disclose and get written authorization from the individual.

The main thing when it comes to background checks is to make sure that if you're requesting something specific like a credit check, that you have a legitimate business reason for doing so.

In the scenario you describe, I would say that access to a company credit card would be a valid reason for running the checks, just be sure to obtain a signed authorization ahead of time. Good luck!
