Bar-be-cue Emergency!!

Anyone have a really good recipe for barbeque sauce?

I'm hosting Mother's Day at my house this year and my 80-year-old mom loves bar-be-cue. Unfortunately, the only sauce I've ever used is from a bottle, but I really wanted to go all out this year.

I need a really great sauce recipe.

Years ago I had a wonderful BBQ sauce recipe using A-1, Ketchup and orange juice as the base. I'll look around and see if I can find it.

In case I can't find it, here's a link with several recipes that sound good. You could try one a day between now of Mothers Day and then use the one you like best.:D

I'll bring some of a friend's BBQ sauce. It has won awards in the Memphis in May contest - but he won't give me the secret recipe!

I've got a smoker on wheels. Do we have a forumite somewhere in the middle of Arkansas, so we could all meet there?

We have a small field behind our building. You can park your trikes, smokers, and campers there (well, as long as the city doesn't notice since we'll probably be in violation of codes). Joannie, I'm glad you're bringing the smoker. Otherwise, Sharon was gonna have to prepare an extra few hundreds of pounds of barbecue. I will bring plates and napkins. tk

We probably could. I'll see if hubby will put a trailer hitch on the trike. We don't have room on the trike for another person, but two people could lie down in the smoker and ride fairly comfortably.:D

Now THAT sounds like a fun trip! Just lie down and watch the sky as Joannie pulls you along. Yep, I could get into that. Of course if it rains I might require frequent rest stops so I can fortify mysel with bar-b-que.

I only cook for three reasons. One is for my Mom on Mother's Day. Two is the odd batch of brownies or cookies. Three is for myself but only if I'm half starved and am too sick to go anywhere. (I keep a large supply of canned soup in my cupboard. As far as I'm concerned, that's cooking.)

So, with that said, if we're having a bar-be-cue, somebody else is going to have to cook, 'cause, trust me, you really don't want me to cook.

My friend (with the secret sauce) may be up for a road trip, he cooks for his team and it is awesome. Will MLS be providing the meat? Pork or Beef?
