OK, I finally found the private message area, but was told I was not authorized to send private messages.:( So, who decides who is authorized and who isn't? And, how do you contact another member directly?
I have wondered this as well and believe that you can't have a two way conversation/relationship ('friends' does not work as well). Hopefully someone from MLS will devote a thread to the capabilities of the new board - i.e. what new things you can do and what old things you cannot.
Joannie and others, the private messaging system is now activated. It has many bells and whistles, most of which should be readily apparent. For example, you'll know when the recipient has read your private message. There is a limit on the number of messages you can store in the system -- 50. And you can back up your private messages to your local computer. At least that's what HRHero computer whiz Andrew tells me! Next up: He's figuring out the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) thingie. And he's focusing on why a few of you must still plug in your password each time on return visits. tk
By the way, the forum only allows you to send one private message every sixty seconds. I was writing someone back and got the message that I had to wait "1 second" before sending my next PM.
Is that like the 3 day cooling off period for buying a gun?
It will only allow you to keep 50, and those that you send count towards that total. Guess it is a way of letting you know if you are getting close to your limit...? I played with the download feature yesterday. Can't see why I would ever need to download a message, but you never know....
Evidence? Ok, I tried to post a one word reply & a got a message that said posts must be at least 10 characters. Kessler, who comes up with this stuff?
OK, guys, that timer thing on the PM's really needs to be disconnected. We are busy people. We have much to say to many. Waiting between PM's is counterproductive. We shouldn't be penalized because we type quickly.
I DO NOT like being kicked off because I leave my desk for a few minutes. Or rather, I wouldn't mind getting kicked off if signing back only took one button or click. Grrrrr
Thanks to Andrew, the 60-second delay in sending a second private message has been reduced to one second! Let me know, though, if you continue to encounter a longer delay. tk

Figures YOU would ask that question....
Jo - let me know if you figure/find out how to block someone!

I'm not sure a minute is long enough for SOME people....

They call it 'justifiable homicide' for a reason.
