[font size="1" color="#FF0000"]LAST EDITED ON 04-06-04 AT 10:04AM (CST)[/font][br][br]It's just showing the type of forum (basically a security level). There are three kinds in this and most other board software, and we only use the protected setting.
Public - Posting without registration. Can view everything, as well.
Protected - Must register before posting, but can still view.
Private - Must be registered and a member of the particular forum in order to post or read messages.

It also means that we are 'protected from ourselves' by big brother who resides in the software and decides what me mean before we know it ourselves and can snatch a thread sideways at will, just for our own good, mind you. x:-)

But as I continue to read re LV's and maggief's plight, it doesn't mean "protected" from identity theft, e'ee advice seeking, or other such weirdness.x;-)
