Photos in profiles

Since we all seem to enjoy seeing what we all actually look like, have you considered adding the ability to upload a photo(s) to our HR Hero profiles? Might be a fun feature.

Actually, Paul, you can do that right now - my profile has my pic. It's trickier than posting a photo in a message, but you can do it.

First, the photo has to be on the Internet already.

Then go to the place where you modify your profile. Go to the Comment box and insert this coding:
[img]http://www.hrhero.com/forum/james.gif[/img]

That will put [b]my picture[/b] in your profile. x:-8 If you want your picture instead, change the URL that's inside the quotation marks. Then start your text on the next line.

If you want to use a small photo and wrap the text around it, use this coding instead:
[img]http://www.hrhero.com/forum/james.gif[/img]
Then begin your text immediately after the code.

Ok, I may do that. The problem of course is that many Forumites don't have photos that are already on the internet or any way to easily do that.

On Yahoo, for example, when you complete your profile, you can upload your photo from your computer.

That may be something to consider down the road. Obviously, you may have more important issues!

So, if one carefully reads James' profile, and looks back about 11 or 12 years, we see that he's partly responsible for inventing AL GORE!! I'm been wanting somebody to blame for years. x:-)

OK James, my pics on my profile along with my lovely wife.

Now I have another suggestion. Is it possible for you to set the profiles so they open in a "new window"?

That would allow users to check out a person's profile, read the info, and then get back to the thread without any interruption.

Does that make sense? Currently, the profiles open up in the same window so you lose the thread that you are reading.

Yeah, yeah, you can hit the back button but that is so LAME man!

Think about it...

I'll be willing to let them put the frizzy haired woman's photo in my profile if they'll just put it someplace else. By the way, I keep hearing that to get a picture posted it has to already be on the internet. How do you get a photo on the internet unless you're a chick in the stands at a college football game with your sweater pulled up?

Paul - if you right click on the Profiles icon, you'll get a pop-up menu; simply select "open in new window" and your profile will open in a new window. You can do this for any link.

Don - I am lucky that I am also webmaster here so I can put up a photo on the net and then link it to the Forum if I need to.

It would be cool if there was a way to just upload a picture right from your computer but that's not possible.

There are places on the web where you can store photos. [url]www.screenblast.com[/url] lets you store photos online for $39 a year. There are probably some free options too.

But I did manage to get my picture in my profile (first try too!) Your directions were very easy to follow!

Would have liked to crop the pic............. But oh well.

I tried to see your picture. You have the same lovely red X that many of us have experienced trying to get these pictures to post. As red X's go, this one is particularly clear - I don't think you need to crop it at all.

Nicole, count me among the red X group. When I right clicked on it, in properties there was a web address. I pasted it in, hit go and still couldn't get to the picture.

Nicole, when I posted my picture in my profile I had the same problem. James had to fix it. I think he waved a magic wand, sprinkled pixie dust, and mumbled some incoherent chant to make it work.

Awww, Thanks Shirley. My S.O. took that at Christmas so I thought I would try to post it as it's the most current photo I have of me. At least one where my eyes aren't crossed and where I'm not having a hair day from h*ll!!

That was at the beginning of the evening. The hair was still halfway decent and it was windy as all get out that evening and COLD as well.

Yes it DOES get cold in Central Florida... well, cold for us!

"cold" is a relative term, Nicole. I remember being down there in shirtsleeves complaining it was too warm and muggy while residents were wearing jackets!

Nicole, it looks like your photo is in a password-protected area of Yahoo, so no one can see it but you. E-mail the photo to me and I'll put it on an unrestricted web page.

I'm glad you thought the directions were easy. Unfortunately, no one has ever had success with photos on Yahoo.
