Taco Dip

This is one that everyone seems to love when I take it to parties. And it's really simple (my definition of a good recipe).

1 8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
1 8 oz. sour cream
1 jar of taco sauce (not salsa)
lettuce (shredded is best)
tomato (diced)
cheese (I use the finely shredded monteray jack and colby mix)
Tortilla chips

With a mixer, mix the cream cheese, sour cream, and 1/2 the jar of taco sauce. Spread on a platter. Spread the remaining taco sauce on top of that. Sprikle the lettuce, tomato, and cheese on top. Use tortilla chips to eat.

  • I've got one similar to this. Seven Layer Taco Dip

    Ingredients:

    2-3 Avacados
1 16 oz container sour cream
    1 - cup chopped tomatoes
1/2 - 1 cup onions (purple onions add lots of color)
    1 package taco seasoning
shredded cheese (choose your favorite - I use the four blends of mexican cheese)
    1- can sliced black olives
1 - can chopped green chilies (optional)

Mash avacados and spread over 10 - 12" round or rectangular dish. Mix taco seasoning and sour cream together, then spread on top of avacados. Sprinkle chopped onions, tomatoes, and top with black olives. Serve with nacho chips. It's really good after it's set overnight so that all of those flavors are mixed together.x:9
