Also, I reject the notion that the Church's reaction to the abuse has been akin to taking care of their family. If your Uncle Chester confesses to sexually abusing your sister's children, do you let him babysit your own? That's not taking care of your family... that's poisoning it.
Frank, I think the rest of us are trying to distance ourselves from you in case Cruise does come after you. We'll stand back and claim not to know you.
I'm not new to the forum - more of a listener (reader - absorber kind of girl) as you can tell by the number of my posts. I'm curious though. There are a large number of posts on this topic. Do you recall what other topics prompted such an influx of activity and what was the largest number of posts on that particular topic?
I realize you aren't really new to the forum. Many posters tend to shy away from this section, it's good when others join in on the fun. I just want to encourage you to keep participating even though you are from PA.

Steaks, I feel badly that you interpreted the comments as an attack although its easy to see how it could come across that way.
And I certainly agree with you that any large organized religion or religious group is going to have its own share of problems. The news is full of stories of pastoral abuse and it crosses all denominations.
That said, you could view opportunities like these as a way to talk honestly about this subject and enlighten those of us who are not Catholics on how you (a reasonable person I admire) views these troubling issues.
From my stance, there appears to have been a formalized program of cover ups and relocations that are in fact different from other denominations or faiths. Maybe I am wrong there. Few denominations have the centralized power structure of the Roman Catholic church.
To me its an interesting subject worth debating but obviously the manner in which we have voiced our opinions or the one-sidedness of the discussion was hurtful to you and that's something I regret.
I hope you wont write this thread off. I'd like to hear what you have to say.
All Ya'll (that's plural for ya'll) are too funny. as you cansee I don't post much either, but am always happy to see easy bantering between those of differing opinions...keeping it light is a good thing. Papal Smear was too good to pass up...I am Catholic (again) after checking out many different religious Christian organizations...they all have their faults as they are managed by humans...we must remember Christ as the head of any church and that will keep us grounded. Don't get this group started on the Confederate flag...
Welcome DMK. Feel free to ignore Ray and Frank. One is the resident liberal and the other one is just a resident.
