Elsewhere posters have questioned how far we will take political correctness. I stumbled across this little tidbit.

X and Y implies male and female and could be considered sexist. What if both parents are female?

So you're talking about non-biological parents being listed in the birth certificates? Why in the world would you do that?

I don't know, I copied directly from the article. But in some cases, the father-donor may not be known. And isn't this a perfect example of PC silliness?

Joannie, a non-biological parent can be listed on a birth certificate, at least in my state, if they adopt the child. I've seen the birth certificate for someone who was adopted by her stepfather when she was in her teens, and they reissued her birth certificate showing him as her father. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but that's what they did.
