Best watch out over there in East MO Frank. Here in the central part of the state it has been snowing hard for about an hour now. Roads are just wet but it is accmulating on the grass, buildings and autos. Supposed to get about an inch today and up to three inches over night. This is our first snow of the season, we really haven't even had much frost yet. I have only had to clean windshields in the early mornings once.
Sure am glad that we were unable to attend the Boy Scout campout this weekend.

We have consistently hit over 70 degrees for several days now....THIS IS DECEMBER FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!

Thankgoodness... it is cold enough here that we are getting snow and not ice. I talked to an insurance rep. in southwest MO, Springfield area, an hour or so back and they are getting freezing rain. I'll take the snow!!!

I was in a very heavy snowfall during Thanksgiving week up in Iowa. Nothing more surreal than a funeral graveside service in whiteout conditions.

Joannie; where in OK are you? I lived in Shawnee for 3-4 years back in the mid to late 70's and traveled most of the state for Wally-World.

On the sunny side of the Arbuckle mountains in Ardmore. Best of all worlds. Small town atmosphere, big town amenities and just 100 miles from both Dallas/Fort Worth and Oklahoma City.

It's been 30 years since I was there, but I know right where you are. The old original Wal-Mart store was a take over from another company. I have stopped many times in the Arbuckle mountains and viewed the area. Always thought it was so neat to drive by and see the straight lines of rock, looking almost like crops in the fields. Isn't there a water fall in the park just off I-35? I even dated a young lady from Ardmore and attended church with her and her family most every weeekend. Lake Texoma is nice too.

Turner Falls Park Area. The Great Falls has the distinction of being the largest waterfall in Oklahoma. That old Walmart store is now a Hastings records, Aaron's Rent to Own and Locke Supply.

Right now, we are 70 degrees and partly cloudy, but by Sunday we should have snow & ice.

OK, I bragged about the weather here last week. Today, it is wet and cold. Has been hovering around 35-37 degrees all day. At least we don't have the ice everyone else has.

Yep... we got the ice here in cenrtal MO Saturday eveing, 'bout 1/2 to 3/4 inch. This has really done a number of the trees in the area. We lost a good portion of the old mable tree in our front lawn but luckly no damage to house or vehicles. Our next door nieghbor's huge mullberry tree took out a good portion of our fense in the backyard. It sounds awful outside with all of the crashes from the limbs breaking. Thankfully, we have not lost power so our home is nice and warm. Several others on our street were without power for several hours due to the tree limbs falling and taking out their power lines. High today is 32 with more freezing rain predicted for tonight up to another 3/4 to 1 inch predicted. Sure hope they miss this as many of our older trees will not be able to withstand the additional ice. I live in the historic section of town and it is like driving down a tunnel with the huge lining trees on both sides of the street. Today it is like an obsticle course as you drive with the limbs hanging down and touching the street. I hear south of us received more ice than we did and several thousand are still without power and it may be 2 to 3 days before their power is restored.

This morning we are up to 34 degrees with light rain... Hopefully we are over the worst part now.
We did go out this morning to find a limb down across the hood of my vehicle and the top of my better-half's.Denali. Thankfully my olders boy was able to do his Atlas impersonation and lift up enough for me to drive out from under the limb. He called about an hour later to tell me that he was able to remove the limb from his mom's vehicle.
Still have 17,000 people in the area without electricty this morning. I drove down to one of our facilites this morning and our manager had 14 family members staying with him since he had power and they did not. He commented it was a serious scheduleing matter this morning with only one bathroom. Also said you can't walk through the house without stepping on a kid asleep on the floor.

Wow. At least he could stay in his home to help the family.

Joannie, how are you doing? Heard on the radio this morning that enormous areas of your state have no power. Also heard about a really terrible multi-car accident from the ice.

Here on the sunny side of the Arbuckle Mountains, we're doing fine. No ice, just rain. Temp is back up to 55, but @ 60 miles north of us got hit really hard.

We still have thousands of people in central Missouri without power in their homes. That being said the local motels, bed & breakfast and restaurants are doing a booming business. Motels are sold out. Our next round of weather due in a couple days is supposed to be only snow.
