Flu Shots

We try to offer flu shots to our employees and every year until this one, the cost per was $15. Same sources are now asking $30 per shot/employee. Are any of you doing this for your employees and if so, what is the going rate in your area?

We encourage our ee's to get flu shots (they've covered with $0 copay under our insurance), but don't mandate it. The shot itself is covered, but the ee must foot the $15 copay for the office visit.

We offer free flu shots that cost the company $24pp for 20-50 people, $22pp for 51-100 and $20pp for 101-150 people. More than three hundred employees receive notices of the "FREE!" flu shots, and each year we have an average of 25 show up. 8-|

I have yet to find out the costs for this year. Last year was a non-event for us. We have always contacted the County Health Dept. and they send a nurse or two over to our home office and we provide flu vaccine to any employee that wishes to participate. It has always been below $10 per shot. We also make arrangements with them for those that could not attend on the specific day to drop by their clinic over the few days to receive their flu vaccine.
Sure hope our cost is not near $30 each.

The last time we had flu shots they were $15/pp but that was a couple of years ago--couldn't get any for our employees last year. I haven't heard yet what the cost will be this year but as soon as I do, I'll let you know.

The cost is $12.50 per shot and last year we had over 500 people take the vaccine. I believe the reason why the cost is so low for us is that we have our own on-site medical staff and we purchase vials of the vaccine.

Just talked with our nurse and she indicated that the vials for this year are going for $125 each with 10 doses per vial.

Edit - we did not give flu shots last year since we could not get the vaccine. The 500 figure was for 2003.

No cost if covered under our medical plan (Medica) or if a Medica member under another plan. $19 if a non-Medica member. Shots administered by Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency. Great benefit.

One of our HMO's give them free at their clinic. We can get the local hospital to send out someone to give them for $10 per employee.

$30 tetanus/diptheria

We charge the same price to ees that we do to our customers. We are not a clinic, we are a retail operation that during the "flu season" contracts through clinics to offer vaccines at our locations.

We offer the flu shot each year through the Visiting Nurses' Association. Last year the shot was $17 per employee. This year they are $25.

Because I wasn't really sure where else to put it. It's not legal, not benefits (although I suppose it could've been), and not really related to HR. But since your looking for a joke, here's one (not related to Flu shots)

We offer shots and the rates are:

$25.00 for pnuemonia

We encourage all employees to get flu shots and we provide them on site (we are a medical practice) at no charge.

We are in NJ and the price our vendor is charging is $19. Interestingly, I need to commit to atleast 40 people getting the shot for them to come out here, and I dont have enough people signed up. No one wants the shot.

Tell your vendor to send their excess over to Missouri! The whole state has been "short" the past three years.

You called it right. I contacted our County Health Dept. (in Missouri) this morning to see about setting up a date for them to come out and stick everyone. They informed me that they will be receiving only a portion of there order and they hope to have it by the end of the month. Understandably so, this smaller portion must be made availabe to high risk patients first. "If" they receive the remainder of their order they hope to be able to offer the vaccine to the general public by mid to late November. Here we go again...
