I have little need for recognition (supervisor or employees), but when I do get a thank you, it means a lot. This morning the receptionist called to tell me I had a drop off. Imagine my surprise when a hugh bouquet of autumn flowers was waiting for me! They are from a former employee (went out on diability in March and will not be returning to work), his mother, and two sisters for continuing to answer questions, etc., even though employee doesn't work here anymore.

That's great! The fact that you "have little need" probably means people want to give it to you all the more...because you don't expect it or take it for granted. It's a great pleasure to recognize and appreciate people who would do what they do without the kudos.
