I just got back from vacation which included crossing into Canada. I didn't find it to be a sad or threatening experience. We showed I.D. cards and they asked us some questions. We had to open up the left passenger door on our van but they didn't get out of their toll booth to closely inspect our van. I do not feel that we were inconvenienced at all.
I do think everyone is forgetting about home grown terrorism though. Olympics in Atlanta, the Uni bomber, Oklahoma City.... And amazingly enough, identity theft. Only once on this vacation did any retail person check my signature on my debit/credit card; and that was in Canada!
I appreciate the articles, but please be advised that my native language is Trailerbonics, and I haven't gotten any smarter since post #18, so please explain: What the *#!@ does "vacuus ineo" mean? Am I the only one who doesn't know? Will I hate myself in the morning for asking?

Sorry about that -- loosely translated from Latin, it means "without comment."
