Stupid Insurance Co. Clauses

I received a proposed contract from an insurance company that includes the following clause:
This agreement will not be automatically renewed unless either party submits notice of termination in writing at least 90 days prior to the effective date of termination.

The not is not a typo.

oopppsss :-) I am thinking someone put that "not" in there by error!

Sort of the way I responded to a work e-mail the other day. I was intending to let the sender know I was unhappy with the e-mail, instead I posted it to EVERYONE in the company...I am still hearing about that little "ooppss!"

So you renew the contract by terminating it? Talk about counter-intuitive! I suppose a judge and a jury would clearly understand. I can imagine you now on the witness stand. "So you terminated the contract?" asks the counsel for the defense. "Yes," says Whatever, "I wanted to renew it."

I am quite certain jurists everywhere would understand.
