I haven't seen many of his old movies but he was in the recent movie "Don Juan de Marco" with Johnny Depp. Good movie...

Take a look at "On the Waterfront" and "Streetcar Named Desire". (Of course, the Godfather). His later stuff tended to be slocky and not a good measurement of his talent.
