Do this happen to anyone else?

ee comes ot my office and asks a question. I provide what I feel is the best response and ee repeats question as if I haven't said a word. This coninues for 3-4 exchanges until the light goes on and the ee understands. Am I losing my ability to orally communicate or is the ee slow to catch on. Happens on several occasions.

This has happened to me. I think the ee doesn't want to believe what your saying and hopes you will change your response to something more palatable to them.

Or, the ee who asks me a question seeming to understand my answer then they go to my assistant and ask the same thing. Similar to what mdm said, didn't like the first answer and trying to get a better one.

Wow, my eyesight must be going. I read the above post as "That's why you're management and they're the EEL." I was like, EEL? What?!! #-o

This is a perfect example of the real problem...the age of the person responding. As we get older we tend to lose track of who we are talking to and what we are saying, thus the blank stare by the person on the other end the response. This is also evidenced by poor eyesight as evidenced by reading reading ee as EEL. By this time one should be wearing bi-focals!x;-)

What about us who wear trifocals and have specialized eyeglasses for various activities?

I don't think Cinderella's ready for bifocals - I get the impression she's probably younger than many of us - or at least me and I just started wearing bifocals. x;-)

I've always referred to this phenomenom as "shopping up and down the hall for the answer they want", but, I've not before heard of somebody who kept shopping for a different answer with the same person over and over, hoping to get another response. Have you considered whether or not you have slid the little window open and perhaps the ee cannot hear you? It's the same sliding window they push your lunch tray through. Just a thought. x:-)
