And let me point out that the celebrations in CT included starting fires and over-turning cars and several arrests. You wouldnt see that at an ACC school.
They were clearly the better team last night. Much as I like UConn, I wanted GT to win so some of the reflected glory would shine on Kansas and Nevada, two of my teams that GT beat along the way. Congrats Big East.
As I seem to say every year, wait until next year.
Sometimes you do these things as a fan. Just looking for silver linings. Nevada's star player, a junior, just announced his intention to enter the NBA draft. Hired an agent and has now eliminated his eligibility to play college ball. He will be tough to replace.
Now that UConn women have their trophy, I have two thoughts: 1. Tennessee lost that game in the first five minutes. Vols, you gotta start playing when the other team does. 2. How come there were no burning cars and rioting for the women's win? That is clearly gender bias and I think UConn has a duty to investigate.
Hey Popeye, I heard that. Notice, the destruction after the men's game was in CT, not NY. Remember, UCONN and Syracuse are strong rivals, so NY'ers would not get too overly excited if UCONN wins.
I can relate to that. I am originally from Indiana and lived close to the KY line. You would not believe some of the "disagreements" people would get in to over the Hoosiers and the Wildcats.
In this region, people are either Syracuse or Penn State fans. But, when Penn State joined the Big Ten they stopped playing Syracuse - Joe Paterno couldn't take the pressure of getting beat all the time by 'Cuse.

Don't know for sure but I wonder if it was because there were not players from NY on the women's team???????
