Get the tune in your head. We had our first snow flurries of the season yesterday and this morning woke up to a nice frost. I saw a low temp of 31 degrees coming in to work this morning.
AAAAHHHH!! Bite your tongue! It is awfully cold here in Boston today, I wore the heavier coat and wished I had some light gloves - I walk to work. Last night I had to close all my windows because it got so cold and dug around trying to find my warm slippers. Some areas of MA are expecting frost over the weekend - sigh- I hope we get an Indian Summer this year, it makes winter so much easier to deal with when we get that one last hurrah.
We saw snow flurries on Monday here in Minnesota. Too early for snow for me. Today it was 50 degrees on my way to work, a nice change from the last few mornings.
There are many Yankees who feel that winter is the best. My daughter just advised me she's coming down from Vermont very shortly to collect her snowboard. She's hoping for a early winter. I'm hoping she gets that stupid thing out of her tongue.
I LOVE THE WINTER!!! I always say you can layer and layer and curl up under comfy blankets, but when it's hot there is only so much you can take off and you will still be HOT!!!!!
I'm the opposite. Although I'd never say we have nice summers, I'll take them any day over our winters. I feel like I can never get warm no matter what I do. In the summer I carry around a spray bottle of cold water and spritz my face when I get overheated.
My face is already inundated with salt based liquid, if I spritzed people would think I had serious health issues. Get ready for the temp control wars in the office.
You have got to be kidding me! We had a record breaking September. Tuesday it was 107 degrees. We're finally "cooling" down - the high today is "only" expected to be 94. I'll take the heat over cold any day, but it's been a brutal summer. Now is supposed to be the time of year when we're gloating - instead we're still sweating!
I'm with you, deez! Grew up in Minnesota, so the winters here in Omaha seem pretty mild by comparison. However, it doesn't take much for the natives to go scurrying for jackets and gloves. I'm always one of the last ones to give in to dressing for the cold. Last Friday, we had temps in the 50s all day - I wore shorts, and our quality auditor was decked out in her ski sweater!
Gee, sorry your weather's so rotten, Evil One. Forecast here is nice and mild, broken clouds and 74 in beautiful Portland, Oregon. Don't even need a jacket or a sweater. x;-)

If it rains this winter ( pray ), the mountains surrounding Riverside will be crowned with snow ( pray )..remember that thread last year when I asked for a truckload of snow for my front yard? Still waiting... hey, you New Yorkers and Bostonians ! ship it out here!!
We live 50 miles south of Boston and about 15 miles from the beach. Woke up this morning and I had to scrape the frost off of my windshield. Of course, I had to rummage through the trunk to find the ice scraper. Also wore a heavier coat with gloves. It's too early to be dealing with this! Anyone catch the weather channel - they showed some very pretty pictures of NY and a light snow on the pines.............
Had to turn on the furnace yesterday - the wife was too cold. Actually, this is the first time in years we didn't turn it on by the end of September, so maybe that portends a mild winter. Saturday, I clean out the furnace, lubricate the filter and clean out the humidifier. Does all that sound foreign to you poeple from the southwest? Then I trim back my beautiful rose bushes for the winter - I have 30 of them, at last count - and trim back all the dead flowers from the frost. No more colorful gardens for at least 6 months.
In Western Washington - the Seattle area - winter does not mean snow. We get it occassionally, but for the most part, winter = rain & more rain, and so on and so on and so on..... I love the spring & the fall up here, but pass on winter & summer.
In MN we had our first frost a couple of weeks ago, even in the southern part of the state. There has been a little snow up north. However, we always say, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes". The forecast calls for a high of 76 today and 80 tomorrow. I love indian summer! I have to get out and put my bulbs in for next year.
We have the same saying here in New England. I'm still waiting for our Indian summer, I like to do my fall equivelant of spring cleaning on those real nice days and get ready to batten down the hatches for winter.
While shopping this weekend I met a couple from California, they live in the Pebble Beach area, and I was trying to explain why a velvet coat, no matter how gorgeous (and oh my, it was!), is just not practical for Boston winters. I pointed out a full length down number that is alot more appropriate x:'( .
Or, if you don't like the weather then move South! I love the snow...give me a frozen lake with an iceshack, fishing pole, and Bacardi and Coke (not Pepsi)and there's nothing else a guy could ask for. Ok...maybe a couple more things!
It's still 80 hear at mid-day, but dips to about 50 at midnight. Leaves have begun to fall. I have three cords of stacked oak firewood out back. I am determined not to again this year run out of firewood in January. The wife starts burning firewood when the temp gets to 60. We don't save a dime but enjoy having a fire every day and all night long. My pine trees have deer living high up in them but I will discuss that on another thread.
We have not seen snow yet. They say it is just around the corner. We had a temp this morning of 37 degrees. Still too cold for me, too early. It is not suppose to snow before Halloween! I hate snow accept on the mountains or when I have a day off.
In the mornings it is is the 30's but employee still are not wearing their winter coats. I guess we know much colder weather is on its way. Yes, I include myself in that. It's now up into the 60's. My parent have gotten snow twice already this year. Yuck!!!!!!

You Yankees pay for the nice summers. Our summers are payback for the mild winters.
