I don't think it's goofy to name your car. My first car was a bright orange Chevy Vega named Vera. She was great.
My husband is a farmer and we have a number of pickups. It's hard to keep them straight, so we name all of them. They are Kabluey, Bruno, Dodger, Old Blue, Orangy, Bronco, Silver, Browny. I also recently sold an Explorer that we called The Exploder.
Most of the vehicles are of the male persuasion, but some are female.
Will somebody PLEASE say something nice about Fords? We have reduced our diets back to canned meat and tons of Ramen to pay for this vehicle and I need reassurances. My SO is so in love with this truck that he actually hesitated when I asked him if an armed carjacker made him choose between me and the truck what would he do. Oh he paid, he paid.
hi Deez, I love my Ford Windstar. I've had it for almost 2 years. It's a great car. And... when I am finally done driving mini-vans full of kids and sports equipment around I will trade it in for a Ford Mustang. This is the first Ford I've owned (I've had a Datsun, a Subaru, and a couple of Dodges), and I'd be happy to drive Fords from now on. anyother Ford Fans out there?
You just mentioned both of the types of FORD vehicles that I had my problems with...consider yourself lucky, for now. FORD's have a way of screwing you over just when you need them.
I hear the trucks aren't too bad, but can't comment because I've never owned a FORD truck.
I GOT TIRED OF THE "FIX OR REPAIR DAILY" ROUTINE. THE NEXT STEP WOULD BE "FOUND ON ROAD DEAD" SORRY!! THEY DO LOOK NICE! I ALWAYS PRAY THAT THE DRIVER HAS A SPEAR AND ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. FORMER OWNER OF A FORD ESCORT!

Hope you found a good name for your Explorer.
My current car's name is "Shadowfax" (after Gandalf's horse, from Lord of the Rings). He's a silver 2003 Honda CR-V, + he's fabulous.
My previous, a black Nissan, was named "Jordi" (short for "Jordan" after both Jordi LaForge of Star Trek, and Barbara Jordan of Watergate fame).
Prior to that was "Randi" (actually, that was short for "Mithrandir", another name for Gandalf, from the Lord of the Rings).
