Last year, my first visit to Phoenix, I got off the plane at 8:00 Phoenix time - it was already dark. It was 105 degrees at night! Never experienced that before. When my son-in-law asked how I liked Phoenix, I replied "nice place to visit, but don't expect me to move next door to you very soon." I think he was relieved.
Raytoot: I'll see what I can do to keep this warmth and sunshine for your visit. If you are real good, I might throw in a monsoon. Those are always fun. Hint: Don't drive in a monsoon. You might end up in a flash flood or a microburst.
DeerDon: Was that remark similar to, "Do you want some thumb tacks for the black crepe you are hanging?"
Okay, okay, its hot. Thats what we put up with for 4 months. Now the other 8 months....are gorgeous.
My daughter has seen 119 outside her kitchen window - in the shade.
My husband is an Arkie, might get the chance to see AK. While I'm there might hop over to MS and check out your bottle tree.
I've lived here for 35 years. Moved with my folks from the Chicago area. Only thing I really missed was ice skating - replaced that with swimming. From my teen years of basking in the sun, I will probably wrinkle up like a prune as the years go by.
We had a day last week where it only hit 99, but the humidity was almost 70 percent - it was miserable. That's due to the monsoons Ray A and Ritanz are talking about. They're lovely and dangerous - especially when the winds pick up and knock over one of the few shade trees surrounding our parking lot at work.
About six more weeks, and we'll be into our 8 wonderful months.
P.S. I read something very similar once except the state was Minnesota, and the subject was snow. Hmmmm....
