The market here in the midwest is terrible right now and applicants are getting more creative by the day in order to get selected for an interview.

I recieved a cover letter today that stated, "I am extremely reliable and highly motivated - I will give you my Ford Expedition if I prove to be otherwise".

Think I can hold him to that??

A Ford????? DO NOT hire him/her. Poor decision maker. Doesn't care how they spend their money. Poor attendance, Ford always in garage for repair. Yada, yada, yada. x:P

A few weeks ago, I had an applicant tell me if we didn't like his work after one month, he would leave and return half his pay to us. I told him that would probably run afoul of several wage & hour guidelines, including min. wage, but I admired his gutsiness. We hired him, and penciled him in as a potential management team member.

He quit after 9 days. :0

Ritaanz and Leslie know not of which they speak. I am on my third Ford truck. I bought the first edition of the Explorer and drove it into the ground, then bought another and put 216k on it. Neither was in the shop except for 3000m oil changes and adding bullet proof tinted glass. Neither a jack nor a wrecker cable ever touched either of them. I expect the same of this one. I'll take you girls for a ride someday!

Leslie and I both live in AZ. I can't speak for her, but I'll risk it and take you up on that ride. If your Ford dies, we'll just bring down the landing wheels and pedal home.
