Blind Ad, Internal Candidate

We recently ran a blind ad for one of our management positions. The person we were looking to replace applied for the job. In his cover letter he slammed our company. Not good for him! Has anyone else had this happen to them?

    Not that specifically, but I have seen resumes of people who work for us from job fairs and job sites (like HotJobs). Or the resumes of people who used to work for us, that don't indicate that they did work for us on the resume.

    Years ago we had an enginner always threatening to quit. A blind ad was run and he applied for it. He ended up staying and behaving. About 5 years later we told him.

    Two years ago I ran a blind ad for engineering director to replace the one we had. He came in Monday morning and confronted me saying he knew it was his job wanting to know what was going on. He gave his 2 weeks notice shortly afterward.
