Sex Question

I went to go donate blood. The questions you have to answer about your health/life style are up to about 50 now, with at least a third of them being about your sex life. (I'm lucky. I went the day before they are adding more questions about SARRS and West Nile Virus!) I patiently answered the questions for the nurse until she got to the one about have you ever paid for sex. I laughed and asked if any self-respecting person ever said yes to this one. She told me that she was going down the questions with a gentleman who said yes because he had to buy his wife a washing machine and wanted to know if that counted!

At least we don't have to ask about these things when interviewing people!

Margaret, trying to give blood is a nightmare anymore. This past January a friend was badly injured in a motorcycle accident. I organized a benefit and blood drive for him. Fully half of the wanna-be-donors couldn't - for reasons ranging from antibiotics, to tattoos, to piercings(and with Harley riders there was quite a bit of that), to two-hour layovers in Belize, to spending time in jail. I didn't even want to know about the sex question denials!

Sorry Margaret, but I read over your post 4 times and never did see your final answer to the question. I knew when I read the subject on the index that you were attempting to see how fast you could gather 610 'reviews' of the thread.

I think they also ask 'Have you ever been paid for sex' at the bloodmobile drives around here. I'm one of the few whose blood they won't take. Alas.

Well... I've been married before so according to Rockie and Parabeagle I have paid for sex, but they took my blood anyway.

My sister-in-law works for a blood service. She has stories that sound more like fiction than fact. Donors that want to be on video during the entire process, ones that want you to copy their answers from the last donation, and one donor who wanted to show her his vasectomy scar to verify one of the answers to the questions???? Sounds like HR to me.

Well, I've never been asked to look at a vasectomy scar, but I'm sure that day will come.
