Lockout/Tagout Written Plan - Cord and Plug section?

Does anyone have a section in their written Lockout/Tagout plan for OSHA that addresses lockout/tagout procedures for cord and plug equipment? This includes all portable equipment that plugs in that may need to be serviced by a member of your maintenance personnel and how it is handled. I appreciate your help. I don't have one, but if you contact your local OSH office they will happily provide it for you - no strings attached! :-)

Well, the recommendation to have that in our plan came from KY OSHA, so I am not sure about that. They didn't provide us with anything, just told us to have that wording in there.

Federal OSHA does not require LOTO for cord and plug equipment. As long as you are in control of the plug. I guess KY does. Sounds like the investigator couldn't find anything and was reaching for the stars.

The only procedure I can imagine other than unplugging it is to apply a plug cover. I've never seen one up close but I've heard they exist.

Procedure
1. Unplug equipment.
2. Service it.
3. Plug it back in.
