Cell Phone, pagers, & personal headphones

Does anyone have a good sample policy governing the use of cell phones, pagers, and/or personal headphones (Walkmans) while at work?

  • No, but I would really like to see one too!
  • Here is the one I developed for my client, a franchisee of Pizzsa Hut restaurants.

    Headsets:

During work time employees are not permitted to wear headsets for listening to radios, tapes, CDs, or similar devices.

    Personal telephones and pagers:

During work time, employees are not permitted to carry or use personal telephones or pagers, except those the company provides.

In cases of emergency, depending on the individual circumstances, the employee's the location manager or a higher company official may permit an employee to carry a personal telephone or pager for a limited time. These circumstances must be approved in advance in writing, and the privilege will end when the reason for granting the exception ends.
