Can anyone tell me if there is a limit as to how many times a year an employee can change his W-4 exemptions?

'You must give your employer a new Form W-4 to adjust your withholding within 10 days of any event that decreases the number of withholding allowances you can claim, such as your divorce if you are claiming married status.'

Usually, the ee can claim any number of exemptions s/he wants and take that number up and down at will. The requirement to send W-4s claiming 10 or more exemptions to the IRS has been eliminated.
Long story short, no limits except the 10-day notice period.

At this point in time, we do not intend to set a limit as it has not been a problem for us. We just look at it as another customer service function of your friendly neighborhood HR Department.
if the change isn't submitted
by the day before payroll run,
it goes on the next payroll.
Never a good idea.
