Knowledge of Senior Management Salaries

LAST EDITED ON 06-11-07 AT 06:44AM (CST)[br][br]I am interested in knowing what other small companies do in regard to the knowledge of management salaries. What employees are privy to the salaries of your Senior Management/Executive team? Is HR? At the present time, we have split payroll processing for our senior management and associates and have had to come up with ways to work around any benefits that I may administer that requires the knowledge of Senior Management salaries. It has some obstacles related to bill payment, benefit and administration, tax filings, etc. My question is, is this common? Also, how many employees do you have on staff?

• I am the HR Officer for a community bank that employs 75 people. I do all of the benefits, including payroll. How in the world can you properly complete your taxes without those figures?! Don't you have to report individual wages to the state?
• I am the HR Manager of a company of approximately 200 employees. I also have an HR Assistant reporting to me that processes payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Both of us have full access to salaries of the entire company. Both of us are fully aware that as part of our jobs we are exposed to confidential information on a regular basis (salaries are just a small part of all we must keep confidential), and that failure to keep such items confidential is grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination.

I feel your company should trust you with such items. If they do not, I feel that you will not be able to fully do your job.

Just my two cents.....Good Luck!
• I'm the HR Director of a company with 110 employees. I have a business manager who processes payroll (thank god I don't have to!) but I handle benefits administration, including 401(k) information. The only people who have access to pay data are myself, the business manager, and the general manager who signs the checks.
• We have 350 team members and our Benefits Manager, Controller, Recruiter and Asst. Controller all have access to the payroll as they are either the primary contact or the back-up.
• We're approx 700 employees. All HR staff except recruiters have full access - myself (director); HR manager; HRIS specialist; Benefits Specialist; HR specialist; and HR Assistant. Also, our IT staff has access, particularly our database person who helps us write reports.

Then we have payroll (3 employees); the VP of fianance/controller; and the CFO.
