In light of the most recent Nebraska Supreme Court decision regarding required payment of accrued vacation at termination, how are many of you handling this? Our current policy indicates that employees are paid accrued PTO if 1) the employee has completed one full, continuous year of employment and 2) employee is terminating in "good standing".
We also allow employees to accrue leave for sick days. According to my sources this will also now be required to be paid at termination no matter what the situation is which ends up being quite an additional liability for us.
We are going to have to change all our policies and probably reduce all of our leave benefits! What are some of the rest of you doing?
