Is it required that a bonus to hourly employees be computed into the base rate whan determining OT (1.5x) for the period in which the bonus was paid

    Depends on whether the bonus was discretionary - and to some extent - how muchit was. DOL has said Christmas bonuses , if they don't exceed a few hundred dollars may be excludable. But, anybonus the employee has come to expect to receive generally and is based in some baseis on productivity does figure into the base. I think there was an article recently in the special reports from M Lees Smith on this very issue.
