Commissioned Employees

I have seen this question answered before but couldn't find it. If you have an employee who is paid on a set commission basis (with bonuses for sales) does his/her weekly commission pay have to at least equal the minimum wage?

Would writers at a newpaper fit the definition of an exempt salaried employee? Seems to me they would.

Applying for an HR job at our local rag and uncertain about these two areas.
