Free CPR Classes on your own time

Do I have to pay employees who volunteer to particiapate in CPR classes? The classes will be on their own time (5:00pm - 9:00pm for two consecutive evenings) The company is paying for the class.

    Not if the training is strictly voluntary and the employees are given the impression that they must become certified as a condition of employment. But, hold on; I would recommend you pay them if their training will benefit the employer. For example, if their training adds them to your group of first aid first-responders and your company is required to have such a group of trained employees. We do that and would pay them if it were on their own time or when we bring them in off-shift for such training.
