Limits on numbers of hours scheduled

Is there a limit on the number of hours an employee can be scheduled to work per day? For example, non-exempt employees can agree to 4 ten hour days with no OT. What about 12 hours, 16 hours, etc? If there is a limit, does it vary by State? I am especially interested in Nevada, CA, FL, GA and AZ.
I have supervisors who apparently want to press the boundries of human endurance!I will be glad to tell they they can't, but would like to have some sort of legal backup.

Since you mention California, there are some standares or requirements. Take a look at the Califonria State Deparmtent of Industrial Relations Laobr Commssion Wage ORders (Industrial Welfare Commssion). I don't know what industry you are in but most of the wage orders -- which are primarily based on the partiuclar industry -- say the same thing in this regard. So, Wage Order No. 4 may be okay.

As far as GA is concerned. No limit. You can work someone 24 hours a day for 30 days straight if you can get them to do it.
