exempt "bonus"

I know that I have read posts & information on this before, but can't seem to get the rather tired brain to recall!

Exempt employee works additional hours in a non-exempt position. Employee is not paid on an hourly basis of her salary, but on an hourly basis of the non-exempt position salary. All documentation it is listed as a "bonus". All appropriate taxes are taken out.

Is this ok ... is there a better way of paying?
