Medical Problem

His supervisor just called and asked me how to approach the problem. He obviously has a medical condition, but he has got to buy bigger pants or something! What would you do?

Ummmm, so your saying his penis is getting larger and larger ?? I don't know of any tactful way that you or anybody else could address this situation - Hey, I have an idea, how bout if you and the supervisor just stop looking at his crotch.

If this employee's pants are too tight then address it as such. This is one case where size doesn't matter, it is how much is showing. Treat it like you would a female who wore her blouses too tight. Such distractions are not appropriate in the work place.

I, too, would address it as a dress code issue. You simply cannot bring this up as a medical condition. Speak about professional dress, and suggest that while he may be wearing items that are part of the dress code, he still must look professional to a reasonable person.

Agree with the others and would reiterate that calling this a medical issue is premature. It may a planned event for all you know, and until the fella requests something like time off for medical attention or accomodation for some sort of disability, it would be prudent to stay away from the medical reference. Address it as a dress code issue, don't look at his crotch, and if others bring their comments to you about his crotch, encourage them also to not look at it (unless of course he is pushing his crotch on others). Consider diversity training if you need to. Though his 'apparent abnormality' is in his crotch area, except for location on his body, it is really no different than a cleft palate, a missing limb, or an extra thumb. Besides, he may consider others looking at his crotch as sexual harassment.

I applaud your advice. All of it is good information except for one thing. Diversity Training? That made me chuckle. I can see it now, "Good morning class, we are going to learn about large penises and how we can get along with them. "

Didn't mean to drop out for awhile, and I agree this issue has garnered way more attention than it deserves.

Diversity training? Just trying to be thorough.

And it should probably start with the folks who admit to having witnessed the change.
