Can anyone out there please tell where I can look to get a sample for a HIPAA procedure? We have a very small manufacturing company, about 75 employees and I need to write a procedure regarding the proper steps of HIPAA. I just don't know how to get started. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure what you mean about a 'procedure'. I have a statement in our personnel manual regarding HIPAA and have employees sign a copy of it at orientation. But I don't have a procedure exactly.

You olny need a HIPAA procedure if your insurance plan is self-funded and you act on behalf of the plan or if you receive protected health information from your carrier and you are fully funded.

If none of the above apply then you should only need a confidentiality policy to protect employees' privacy. Workers' comp., disability, FMLA, ADA do not fall under HIPAA.
